Content

The PhD course is being held nearby the non-tidal coastal lagoon Rødsand in Southern Denmark. Close to the lagoon a fixed tunnel between Denmark and Germany will be constructed in the coming yeast. The course has its focus on natural and man-made sediment dynamics in the lagoon. The area serves as a working laboratory and facilitates study of a wide range of subjects including:
• Cohesive and non-cohesive sediment properties
• Sediment spill from dredging operations
• Properties of plants
• System understanding
• Numerical modelling of estuarine areas
• Sediment transport in estuarine areas

For more info, please contact Thorbjørn Joest Andersen, tja@ign.ku.dk; tel: +45 35322503.

Format of course

Combination of lectures, field exercises, hands-on modelling and an excursion in the area.
Morning sessions with lectures
Afternoons modelling, lab work and field work
Students work in small groups with a specific project. Groups are supervised by an expert. Course conclude with 30 minutes presentation from each group
