Statement of objectives:
Communication
The main objective of this PhD course is to provide the participants with a structured way of effectively communicating their research with the guidance of experts and other students. Participants will work on individual projects that relate to their PhD project. At the end of the course, the participants must present their results in the form of either a poster or an oral presentation.
Networking
A secondary goal for PhD Day is to stimulate networking and create new interdisciplinary collaborations. This improves the institute's research while at the same time teaching the PhD students to think more creatively and innovatively.
Community
We also hope that the PhD Day, as a social and scientific event, will help build bridges between research groups and sections and will strengthen the community between PhD students.
There are a number of formal requirements for presentations (individually for talks, and posters) as specified in the guide on the website, in particular this year’s theme “your footprint”.
PhD studentship from Biology or NHM is required.
The PhD students selected for presentations (talks and posters) based on their abstract, can find guidelines for each type of presentation on the PhD-Day website: http://phdday.wix.com/2018. Here you will find criteria, good advice, on how the various presentations are best kept and suggestions for further material in the field. Based on these guidelines, PhD students create and conduct their presentation.
Registration
To register for PhD Day, visit the PhD-Day website at http://phdday.wix.com/2018 .
