Aim and content
This course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School), and for PhD students at graduate schools in the other Nordic countries. All other participants must pay the course fee.

Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student, you will be placed on the waiting list for the course until enrollment deadline. After the deadline of enrollment, available seats will be allocated to students on the waiting list.


Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:

1.Understand current concepts and theories of ageing
2.Be introduced to animal models used in ageing research
3.Perform advanced experimental methods to study molecular and cellular processes in ageing
4.Reflect on ageing theories and experimental methods used in the field
5.Have an understanding of current literature on ageing theories


Content
In a society were age-related disorders are responsible for the vast majority of disease and mortality, there is an ever-increasing interest in understanding and alleviating the processes forcing the organism to age.
This course is a mix of a series of in-depth lectures on molecular and cellular processes in ageing as well as laboratory classes covering advanced experimental methods used to study ageing processes. By completing this course, you will gain insight into the fundamental biology of ageing in humans and other organisms and have a collection of laboratory methods that you can use to study ageing in your project.


Participants
The PhD course is intended for students who has an age focus in their PhD project or has an interest in the field. Students are required to have a background within biology, medicine or similar and have laboratory experience.

The course will feature lectures and laboratory exercises on ageing research. There will also be group work based discussion of most recent ageing theories.
