Aim and content
This is a generic course. This means that the course is reserved for PhD students at the Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH. Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at the Graduate School, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. After the enrolment deadline, available seats will be allocated to the waiting list.
The course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School). Special rules apply for research year students enrolled at Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH. All other participants must pay the course fee.
Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:
1.Understand how to present own research in a clear and concise fashion
2. Avoid most common presentation mistakes
3. Prioritise results and data to best fit the allotted time of an oral presentation or the space of a poste
4. Be introduced to basic presentation techniques
5. Optimize your figures, images and animations
Content
PhD students are expected to be able to present their own research and the research of others in a clear and understandable manner. Good presentation skills will benefit the researcher when teaching, presenting at scientific meetings, during an examination, or as a part of a job interview.
The course will focus on giving the student hands on experience with all stages of making a presentation.
Participants
The PhD course is intended for all students who would like to improve their presentation skills. Students are required to bring data or topics from own research areas that they want to work with during the course.

The course will feature introductory lectures, but will focus on facilitated workshops, where students will work with their own projects under supervision, and will be evaluated by fellow students.

Seats to PhD students from other Danish universities will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and according to the applicable rules. Applications from other participants will be consideres after the last day of enrolment.
Note: All applicants are asked to submit invoice details in case of no-show, late cancellation or obligation to pay the course fee (typically non-PhD students). If you are a PhD student, your participation in the course must be in agreement with your principal supervisor.
