Aim and content
THE WRITER DEVELOPMENT COURSE HAS TWO PARTS: PART A AND PART B. YOU NEED BOTH PARTS TO PASS WRITER DEVELOPMENT

3 credit (online) Writer Development course: Optimising Writing Productivity and Focus
In times of working-from-home, maintaining focus on writing activities can be extra challenging. This course introduces effective strategies for optimising focus and productivity via online communities of practice (writers’ groups), and via meta-cognitive strategies for distraction management.
The contact time consists of two 2-day virtual writing retreats, spaced two months apart. In the first retreat, strategies will be introduced and immediately put into practice. In between the two retreats, participants will form and maintain online writers’ groups in which they will solidify the good habits that were initiated, and optimise their individual productivity by making principled and conscious adjustments the learned strategies. In the second retreat participants broaden their productivity/focus repertoires by exchanging ideas, reporting on development, and learning some more strategies.
Requirements for earning the ECTS points:
• Full and appropriate participation in all 4 days for the virtual retreat
• Regular participation in writers’ groups in between the two retreats
• Reflective journal kept on retreat days and also in between the retreats
• Analysis of reflections and production of a writing productivity/focus profile
