Content
The course journal club will evaluate one scientific paper from a recognized journal in each session. The student take turns as presenter of a paper - i.e. the aim, results and conclusions - and make a critical review of method and results. The student is expected to give an account of new elements in the paper and how this relates to his/her own research. Each journal club session will include a general discussion of the paper among all participants, which will be led by the presenting student. The presentations must result in a one-page summary and a peer-review of the paper.

General course objectives:
- To enable the student to critically evaluate scientific evidence based on current research
- To make the student familiar with scientific papers in the field of pediatric nutrition
- To enable the student to review others’ and his/her own papers
- To increase the students communicative skills and to support his/her scientific stand-points.

Learning outcome
A student who met the objectives of the course will be able to:
- Explain research methods and their implications for the interpretation of the results in scientific papers
- Summarize and discuss results as presented in a scientific paper
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of a given piece of research
- Perform peer-review of papers for scientific journals and conferences in his/her field of research
- Relate results from others to his/her own research results and their contribution to the field
