Aim and content
This is a generic course. This means that the course is reserved for PhD students at the Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH. Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at the Graduate School, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. After the enrolment deadline, available seats will be allocated to the waiting list.

The course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School), and for PhD students at graduate schools in the other Nordic countries. All other participants must pay the course fee.

Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:
1.Define the intention with the presentation
2.Describe the aim, the goals, the situation and expectations from the audience
3.Analyze and prioritize among optional contents
4.Prepare story line and develop the presentation
5.Rehearse and adjust contents and performance using peer’s / teacher’s feedback

Content
Pre course: Consideration of personal goals/needs during the course including selection of the upcoming presentation for training after Day 1. Preparation of a mini-presentation (same theme) for Day 1 exercises.
Day 1: Introduction to the Triade: Medical contents, Communication & Technique. Own mini-presentations with practical hands-on experience.
Homework: Implementation of learnings from Day 1 the presentation. Personal training session with feedback and input to adjustments of contents.
Day 2: Exercises build on the selected upcoming presentation, Triade check points and shared learnings.
Follow-up session: Personal/group sessions for fine-tuning of an upcoming presentation.

Targets are PhD students within medical field / life science disciplines.

Relevance to graduate programs
The course is relevant to PhD students at all graduate programs at the Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences, UCPH.

All graduate programmes

Language
In Danish: course, theory and group discussions.
In English: presentations, slides and scientific clarifications / Q&As during the exercises.
The entire course will be in English if required by non-Danish participants.

Form
Lectures, discussion, homework, feedback sessions and plenum exercises.

Plenum day 2: 16/11: 8.30 – 16.00
Individual sessions will be held 10/11 or 11/11 between 8.30 and 15.00.
Setup and dates for Follow-up sessions will be distributed at Day 2.

Seats to PhD students from other Danish universities will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and according to the applicable rules.
Applications from other participants will be considered after the last day of enrolment.


Note: All applicants are asked to submit invoice details in case of no-show, late cancellation or obligation to pay the course fee (typically non-PhD students). If you are a PhD student, your participation in the course must be in agreement with your principal supervisor.
