Criteria for exam assessmentIn order to pass the OT JC the participant needs to select, read, understand and present relevant primary literature within the field of optical manipulation. Also, the participant needs to actively engage in the scientific discussions of the presented papers.

Aim and content
At the Optical Tweezers Journal Club, scientific papers (primary literature) that relate to the research areas of the optical tweezers group are presented and carefully discussed. Each week a new paper, or a project, is presented by one of the journal club participants, and the remainder of the journal club participants are expected to have carefully read all relevant literature beforehand. At least 3 days prior to each journal club, the most relevant paper(s) are distributed to all journal club participants through the optical tweezers mailing list.

The homepage of the OT journal club is located at http://tweezers.nbi.dk/intra.

Formel requirements
To participate in the OT JC, it is a requirement that the person belongs to the OT group.

Learning outcome
The goal of the Optical Tweezers Journal Club (OT JC) is to make the participants aware of and familiar with the most novel and relevant literature within the research areas of interest for the Optical Tweezers research group.

Literature
The teaching material consists of primary literature that is typically published recently in high impact high quality international journals. The teaching material is distributed to all members of the OT JC through the optical tweezers mailing list, prior to the presentation and discussion.

Target group
The participants of the OT JC are required to have a strong scientific background in the fields of optics and biophysics, and preferably in optical manipulation, too. The papers discussed are highly specialized.

Teaching and learning methods
At each OT JC one participant presents a scientific paper and this paper is carefully discussed. The paper is chosen by the person who presents it.

Remarks
Exam registration requirements:
To achieve 7.5 ECTS the student must follow the OT JC for at least 1.5 years. Every 6 months there are ~ 15 journal clubs. A lower amount of ECTS can be achieved by following the OT JC for a shorter time period than 1.5 years. It is not possible to achieve more than 7.5 ECTS for the OT JC.
