Expand your comfort zone and create value for your audience

[Note that this course is delivered as two days one week apart: 7 September and 14 September]

The objective of this two-day presentation workshop is to expand your comfort zone when talking to a variety of audiences and to create value for them.
You will receive personal guidance and feedback on your presentation technique, including your visual aids (e.g. PowerPoint and Prezi), language, body language, content and overall effectiveness.

The workshop is open for PhD students and other researchers from all areas. You are expected to prepare a five-minute oral presentation (a scientific presentation, lecture format, or meeting presentation) prior to the course.

You will give two 'complete' presentations, one on each day of the course. In addition, you will practise improvisation skills and dealing with questions.

There is a week’s gap between the two course days. This gives participants an opportunity to reflect on and practise skills learned on the first day, and to build these into their presentation on day two.

Teaching and learning methods
Participants’ presentations, which are followed by rounds of constructive feedback, form a key part of this course. The instructor gives short lectures on key principles and tools for presenters and provides an observations checklist for giving feedback on presentations. Participants practise giving improvised presentations by giving feedback on each other’s presentations.
Participants will receive GlobalDenmark's 'Guide and Toolbox for Presenters', and individual recordings of their presentations to reflect on in private.

Key learning outcomes - the workshop enhances: confidence; structure of presentations; storytelling techniques; clarity of message; audience interaction; dealing with questions; use of visual aids; continuous learning through feedback
