Learning outcome
The students are expected to learn about a selection of state-of-the-art controllable quantum devices, and to acquire an outlook to where this community is heading. This includes a more detailed insight into the respective advantages and shortcomings of the different systems, and a basic understanding of the relevant underlying quantum physics.

Literature
Scientific articles proposed by the main lecturers

Teaching and learning methods
Traditional lectures introduced by shorter instruction lectures given by local staff from KU. Exercise classes with local students and post-docs acting as teaching assistants. Finally, students present their own work (on their own topic) in a poster session.

Lecturers
Klaus Ensslin, ETH Zürich
Jukka Pekola, Aalto University
Katharina Franke, FU Berlin
Erez Berg, Weizmann Institute of Science
Sebastián Bergeret, EHU San Sebastian
One more lecturer to be confirmed

Workload
Preparation: Students will receive pdf-versions of the relevant scientific papers for reading, and are expected to study selected sections of this material before the course starts.

Self-study: Only the preparation is true self-study, since the intensive program during the week of the course leaves no time for homework. Evenings are kept free for socializing.

Evaluation: At the end of the course, students will be asked to fill an evaluation form.
