Exam detailsThree written assignments combined with an oral presentation. The written assignments together count for 50% of the final grade. The oral presentation counts for the remaining 50%.

Content
We will cover various topics in Lie theory, like classification of simple Lie groups and algebras, finite groups of Lie type, or representations of Lie groups and algebras, with the precise content depending on the interests of the participants.

Learning outcome
Knowledge: To display knowledge of the course topics and content, at the level of a beginning researcher.
Skills: To be able to use the acquired knowledge to obtain proofs.
Competences: To be able to produce independent proofs in extension of the acquired knowledge.

Teaching and learning methods
4 hours of lectures and 3 hours of exercises per week for 9 weeks. Some of the lectures will be given by the students in small groups of 1-4 students (depending on the number of participants)
