Content
The PhD Seminar begins with a series of scientific talks given by PhD students at the Department of Chemistry followed by
scientific discussions. Posters will be pitched. After the talks, the participants will gather for a poster session followed by a prize session and a social dinner.

The aim of the PhD Seminar is to provide an opportunity for PhD Students at the Department of Chemistry to practice presenting scientific material in an accommodating environment. Additionally the PhD Seminar will provide room for
scientific discussions across the research groups in the Department of Chemistry.

Any participants in the course must provide and abstract and present either a scientific poster or give a talk to be eligible
for the ECTS credits.









Learning outcome
Exchange of Experiences: Knowledge about competences and experiences across research groups in the Department of Chemistry will help the PhD
Student in their further research.

Communication Skills: The PhD Student will learn to present their research in a concise manner to scientist outside their specialized field. This is
relevant experience for both the thesis defense as well as later career advancement.

This course has no teaching material.

Teaching and learning methods
Preparation and presentation of a scientific poster or talk. During the preparation, the PhD Student will need to
communicate their research in a concise format aimed at peers outside their specialized field. The PhD Student will gain
experience in presenting and discussing scientific material during the PhD Seminar.

Formal requirements:
Course participants must sign up with a poster or a talk.

Academic qualifications:
PhD students from the Department of Chemistry.
