Learning outcome
After the course, the participants will be able to:
• Map the key generic skills they have obtained through their PhD studies
• Reflect on and identify their own academic and professional interests and motivation
• Give an overview of common career paths for PhDs in the natural and life sciences
• Understand what competencies employers often look for when recruiting PhD holders from the natural and life sciences
• Identify some of the important factors to consider when assessing the commercial potential of their research
• Identify potential funding mechanism for postdoc positions
• Identify the key components in a successful grant application
• Communicate how their skills are transferable to other areas of work outside academia
• Write an effective CV/resume and cover letter tailored for a specific job position
• Build a professional network using LinkedIn and know how to use networking as a career tool
• Systematically explore different career opportunities that could match their career aspirations, motivation, and skills.

TALENT PhD Fellows have priority.

Evaluation/Reporting
The participants will pass the course through active participation and will be required to submit a Personal Career Exploration Plan (PCEP) one week after the course. Participants will receive oral feedback on the PCEP.
