Content
The aim of the course is to introduce PhD students to the professional use of research microscopes. Students can enrol in the following modules, according to their projects and interests:
A - Light Microscopy
B - Histology
C - Confocal Microscopy
D - Scanning Electron Microscopy
E - Summer Course
F - Image Interpretation
The teachers are members of the Center for Advanced Bioimaging (CAB) Denmark. Where relevant, preparation methods for the respective microscope type and hands-on at the instruments are included. Students interested in the course can freely choose the appropriate module(s).

Module E: Summer Course
The summer course for experienced microscopists comprises theory and show-cases on selected topics, such as Fluorescence Lifetime, Super Resolution and High Throughput Microscopy as well as live cell and spectral imaging. Internationally outstanding experts will give key notes on these topics. It will be possible for the students to bring their own specimens, if suitable for the chosen techniques and agreed upon (please indicate your interest at the latest end of May). Part of the summer course is the 6 th Bioimaging Workshop Copenhagen with opportunity to present posters or talks.

Formel requirements
Students interested in the course are requested to apply with a short motivation and, when accepted, to give a short presentation of their research project.

Learning outcome
Understanding the optical principals in advanced microscopy
Understanding the background of super-resolution microscopy
Using image processing and analysis software

Target group
PhD students within Life Sciences

Teaching and learning methods
Keynote lectures given by internationally outstanding experts, lectures, show-cases at the instruments, flipped classroom for image processing and analysis and preparation of an abstract for the workshop
