Aim and content
At the QUANTOP Journal club scientific papers, both from the primary literature that relates to the field of quantum optomechanics and from another research branch, are presented and carefully discussed. Each week two participants select both a primary and a general article and they present and discuss them. The remainder of the journal club participants are expected to have carefully read all relevant literatures on forehand. At least 5 days prior to each journal club the most relevant paper(s) are distributed to all journal club participants through the QUANTOP journal club mailing list.

The goal of the QANTOP Journal Club (Q JC) is to make the participants aware of and familiar with the most novel and relevant literature within the research areas of interest for the quantum optomechanics research group.

Formel requirements
To participate in the Q JC it is a requirement that the person belongs to the QUANTOP group.

Literature
The teaching material consists both of primary literature that is typically published recently in high impact high quality international journals and of a more general literature, related to quantum physics. The teaching material is distributed to all members of the Q JC through the journal club mailing list prior to the presentation and discussion.

Target group
The participants of the Q JC are required to have a strong scientific background in the fields of quantum optics and preferably in quantum optomechanics too. The papers discussed are highly specialized.

Teaching and learning methods
At each Q JC two participants presents two scientific papers – a specific one from quantum optomechanics literature and a generic one from quantum physics literature – and these papers are carefully discussed. The papers are chosen by the persons who present them.

Lecturers
The journal club takes place every Friday at 10.00 - 12.00 in the QUANTOP lounge, Blegdamsvej 17. The weekly workload (incl. preparation) is on average approximately 13 hours during 10 weeks.

Workload
Seminar 20, Preparation 110 (incl. 20 for preparation of presentation), Total 130.

Remarks
Exam registration requirements to achieve 5 ECTS the student must follow the Q JC for 10 weeks.
