Aim and content

This course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School). Special rules apply for research year students enrolled at Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH. All other participants must pay the course fee.

Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:

1. Introduce PhD students to the many aspects of diabetes and molecular metabolism
2. Introduce the members of the Danish Diabetes Academy to each other, thus creating a good opportunity for networking
3. Give the PhD students a chance to present their work

Content
This year the following topics will be covered:

• Obesity and weight regulation
• Mitochondria: pro-con debate
• Stratification and prevention of diabetes
• Type 1 diabetes and complications
• Metabolism

Additionally, you will be introduced to a challenge/ case story on day 1, which you will be asked to discuss in predefined groups, there will be held interactive workshops, poster sessions, student presentations and there will be plenty of time to network with fellow researchers.

Participants
The course is directed at PhD students in molecular metabolism, diabetes, endocrinology, cardiology and higher physician training, as a postgraduate segment towards their PhD degree.

Applications from other participants will be considered after the last day of enrolment.


Note: All applicants are asked to submit invoice details in case of no-show, late cancellation or obligation to pay the course fee (typically non-PhD students) If you are a PhD student, your participation in the course must be in agreement with your principal supervisor.
