Aim and content
This course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School). Special rules apply for research year students enrolled at Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH. All other participants must pay the course fee.
Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student, you will be placed on the waiting list for the course until enrollment deadline. After the deadline of enrollment, available seats will be allocated to students on the waiting list.

Cardiac Arrhythmia, 3403-17-00-00
, Participation in Cardiac Arrhythmia is mandatory if you participate in Cardiac electrophysiology- basic and clinical aspects.
Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:
1. A comprehensive understanding of cardiac electrophysiology from cell to patient
2. Describe of all the major arrhythmogenic diseases
3. Familiarity to treatments of cardiac arrhythmias in the clinic
4. Compare and evaluate different cardiac animal models
5. Understand the basis for establishing and running a biotech/device company
Content
The cardiac electrophysiology summer school will cover the following topics: 1) Basic introduction to cardiac electrophysiology, E-C coupling and pump function, 2) introduction to clinical work both in humans and large animals (primarily horses), 3) presentations from world-leading researchers in unraveling the mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmia (co-shared with the Ion Channel Symposium), 4) presentation of cardiac research models in rat, pig and horse, 5) treatment of human cardiac arrhythmias (1 day at Rigshospitalet), visits to a biotech and device company (1 day), and a focused 1-day seminar on Sudden Cardiac Death.
