Aim and content
This is a generic course. This means that the course is reserved for PhD students at the Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH. Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at the Graduate School, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. After the enrolment deadline, available seats will be allocated to the waiting list.
The course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School). Special rules apply for research year students enrolled at Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH. All other participants must pay the course fee.
Participants
Targets are PhD students within medical field / life science disciplines who expect to finalize their PhD project within 3-8 months. The programme builds on top of the training course: Presentation of medical results.
Learning objectives
A student who meets the objectives of the course will be able to:
a. Describe the PhD project in few words:
a. Thesis, setup, results, perspectives
b. Describe the presentation in few words:
a. Situation, expectations, goals, story line, tone of voice
c. Analyze and prioritize among optional contents
d. Identify and solve critical issues in the presentation
e. Adjust - and align the presentation with the PhD project
Content
Preparations: Description and analysis of the PhD project and the presentation. Preparation of a 10 minutes presentation of the PhD project.
Plenum day: Theory sessions with focus on story line, results, perspectives and critical issues. 10 minutes presentations with practical hands-on experience. Development of own planning points.
Individual session: Feedback and input to adjustments of presentation. Check of planning points and additional steps.
Language
In Danish: course, theory and group discussions.
In English: presentations, slides and scientific clarifications / Q&As during the exercises.
The entire course is held in English if required by non-Danish speaking participants.
Form
Lectures, discussion, homework, feedback sessions and plenum exercises.

Admission to PhD students from Danish universities will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and according to the rules in force.
Applications from other participants will be considered after the last day of enrollment.
Note: All applicants are asked to submit invoice details in case of no-show, late cancellation or obligation to pay the course fee (typically non-PhD students). If you are a PhD student, your participation in the course must be in agreement with your principal supervisor.
