Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not enroled as a PhD student at the Graduate School, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrolment deadline. After the enrolment deadline, available seats will be allocated to applicants on the waiting list.

The course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School). Special rules apply for research year students enroled at Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH. All other participants must pay the course fee.

Learning objectives

• import and export data in various formats including interaction with relational databases
• do efficient data manipulation and aggregation
• use programming principles (loops and functions) to handle repetitive tasks
• do reproducible research using Markdown
• do regression analysis in R for both categorical and continuous outcomes

Content
The course covers use of the statistical software package R. The aim is to take the intermediate R user to the next level, and make use of programming techniques for more efficient use of R. We consider some statistical details related to regression models including models for categorical data and survival analysis.

Participants
Ph.D.-students and health researchers with a basic knowledge of statistics corresponding to the course on basic statistics for health researchers and with a good working knowledge of R, e.g., as obtained by having already followed an introductory course on R. Participants are expected to bring their own laptop with R installed for the exercises. Max. 20 participants.
