Aim and content
This course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School). Special rules apply for research year students enrolled at Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH. All other participants must pay the course fee.
Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student, you will be placed on the waiting list for the course until enrollment deadline. After the deadline of enrollment, available seats will be allocated to students on the waiting list.
Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:
a. Perform a fluorescence microscopy experiment
b. Analyse and interprete fluorescence microscopy images
c. Be able to select specific dyes and fluorophores that match the experimental requirements
Content
The course will focus on introducing participants to application of various microscopy techniques. The course will have lectures where the theory behind different microscopy techniques is described and how to critically interpret results. In addition there will be several practical sessions at the microscopes where the students get hands-on experience.
Immunofluorescence; Fluorescent proteins; Live cell microscopy, Image acquisition, processing and analysis (ImageJ, Volocity) Confocal microscopy; Quantitative microscopy
Participants
Max 12 participants.
The students should ideally work with (or intend to be working with) one or more of the microscopy techniques in their PhD

Registration: Please register before November 1st
Admission to PhD students from Danish universities will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and according to the rules in force.
Applications from other participants will be considered after the last day of enrollment.
Note: All applicants are asked to submit invoice details in case of no-show, late cancellation or obligation to pay the course fee (typically non-PhD students). If you are a PhD student, your participation in the course must be in agreement with your principal supervisor.
