Aim and content
This course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School). All other participants must pay the course fee.
Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student, you will be placed on the waiting list for the course until enrollment deadline. After the deadline of enrollment, available seats will be allocated to students on the waiting list.
Course title
Epidemiological methods in medical research (previous title: Epidemiology)
Learning objectives
The purpose of the course is to provide an introduction to modern methods in epidemiology as used in medical research and based on biostatistics. On conclusion of the course the participants should be able to read and understand modern epidemiological methods and design and analyse standard studies.
Content
The course includes an introduction to options in study design, bias and confounding and to statistical methods for the analysis of epidemiologic data including simple methods for stratified analysis and analysis based on regression models. Illustrative examples are drawn from medical research.

Ph.D. students and others interested in epidemiologic research in medicine. Having completed the course in Basic Statistics is advantageous. Max. 25 participants

A mixture of lectures and exercises, including computer practicals, mainly using the SAS program, though participants who wish to use other software are free to do so. You are supposed to bring your own laptop with the statistical program you wish to use installed
