Aim and content
This course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School). All other participants must pay the course fee.
Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student, you will be placed on the waiting list for the course until enrollment deadline. After the deadline of enrollment, available seats will be allocated to students on the waiting list.

Course title
Single cell transcriptomics

Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:

1. Wet-lab: Single cell analysis by SMARTSeq2
2. Wet-lab: Single nucleus analysis by SMARTSeq2
3. Wet-lab: Single cell analysis by 10x Chromium
4. Dry lab: To understand how single cell transcriptomics data can be clustered by cell type
5. Dry lab: To understand how cells can be placed along their developmental trajectories
6. Dry lab: To understand how genes can be grouped into co-expressed modules

Content
Single cell transcriptomics using plate-based method, SMARTSeq2, and droplet-based method, 10x Chromium. Whole cell and nucleus transcriptomics
Processing of single cell data using Seurat and Pagoda (for the data processing part, the participants will be subdivided into unexperienced and experienced users)
Participants are expected to present their projects in form of oral presentation

Participants
PhD students at any year of their studies, some experience in molecular biology (molecular cloning, PCR, work with RNA) is required. There is no prerequisite knowledge of programming or data analysis tools, and both experienced sequencing data analysis users as well as unexperienced ones can attend the course.

However, for the data analysis part, the participants will be subdivided into 2 groups and the training will be provided at beginners and advanced levels. If you are enrolled, please send letter of motivation for attending the course before registration deadline to: momed@bric.ku.dk

Relevance to graduate programmes
The course is relevant to PhD students from the following graduate programmes at the Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences, UCPH:
