Aim and content
This is a generic course. This means that the course is reserved for PhD students at the Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH. Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at the Graduate School, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. After the enrolment deadline, available seats will be allocated to the waiting list.
The course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School). All other participants must pay the course fee.
Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:
a. Identify and qualify own supervision style
b. Plan and conduct supervision conversations
c. Reflect on own preferred leadership style and widen the scope of styles used
d. Qualify meetings and collaboration processes with co-workers
Obtained knowledge:
a. Insight into theories of different leadership styles
b. Understanding of how these can be used in supervision
c. Communication theories and conversational mastery
d. Understanding supervision given to one self
Obtained skills:
a. Apply conversational mastery in supervision
b. Shift between different supervision styles according to the situation
c. Change position in conversations
d. Apply the appropriate level of ‘hands-on / hands-of’ supervision
Obtained competencies:
a. Reflect on situational leadership in supervision
b. Ongoing evaluation of supervision
c. Develop own supervision style
Content
1) development of your own personal type, 2) how to use this personal type towards those who need supervision, 3) bad and good supervison, 4) the right supervision.

Admission to PhD students from Danish universities will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and according to the rules in force.
Applications from other participants will be considered after the last day of enrollment.
Note: All applicants are asked to submit invoice details in case of no-show, late cancellation or obligation to pay the course fee (typically non-PhD students). If you are a PhD student, your participation in the course must be in agreement with your principal supervisor.
