Course title
Aging from a cross disciplinary perspective

Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:

1. Get insight into forefront aging research of different disciplines
2. Compare, relate and discuss perception of aging from different research disciplines
3. Reflect on limitations of mono-disciplinary understanding of aging mechanisms

Content
Within the research fields, molecular biology, physiology, and social sciences, the process of aging is a very active research subject. Each of the research disciplines have their own unique view on aging, but also limitations to the extent that the phenomenon can be studied. With this course, the student will be introduced to the forefront research with these three research disciplines, and will through discussion, actively relate different aspects of age perception to get a deeper understanding of aging mechanisms.

The PhD course is intended for students from all academic fields, who are working or are planning to work with aging research - especially in a cross disciplinary context. However, the course is open for all students interested in the ability to relate to aging and understanding of other research disciplines.
