Aim and content
This course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School), and for PhD students at graduate schools in the other Nordic countries. All other participants must pay the course fee.

Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at a Danish university, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. This also applies to PhD students from Nordic countries. After the enrollment deadline, available seats will be allocated to applicants on the waiting list.

Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:

1. Formulate a clinical relevant research question (PICO)
2. Have insight in the strengths and limitations of different trial designs
3. Plan and report clinical trials according to trustworthy standards
4. Choose clinically relevant outcomes, perform realistic sample size estimations and plan statistical analyses
5. Learn about SPIRIT (planning) and CONSORT (reporting) statements

Content
With this course, we offer an introduction to the planning, conducting and reporting of clinical trials for PhD students to be actively involved in clinical trials. Results from clinical trials inform patients, relatives, healthcare personnel, and society about the benefits and harms of existing and new treatments. To harvest the full potential of the investments and hard work that lies behind clinical trials, the methodological standards of the trial should be of highest possible quality.

Participants
The target group is all researchers with interest in clinical research and trials. No specific qualifications are required, but a basic knowledge about clinical research will increase the gain from the course.
