Aim and content This course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School), and for PhD students at graduate schools in the other Nordic countries. All other participants must pay the course fee. Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at a Danish university, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. This also applies to PhD students from Nordic countries. After the enrollment deadline, available seats will be allocated to applicants on the waiting list. Learning objectives A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to: 1. Gain insight into the clinical and research field of cancer symptom science 2. Identify and describe assessment approaches and measurement tools in symptoms of cancer and treatment and the related methodological challenges 3. Understand the role of patient involvement in symptom science and research processes 4. Discuss the methods of analysis for qualitative and quantitative data 5. Gain insight into the biological, psychosocial and behavioral mechanisms of symptoms of cancer and treatment Content Cancer symptom science and symptom management research Participants The course is relevant for phD students working with cancer patients in clinical practice and research. Relevance to graduate programmes The course is relevant to PhD students from the following graduate programmes at the Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences, UCPH: All graduate programmes Language English Form 3 days x 7 hours. Lectures, individual and group work sessions and discussions. Reading and assignments are approximated to be 1½ hours during the course period.
