Aim and content
This course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School), and for PhD students at graduate schools in the other Nordic countries. All other participants must pay the course fee.
Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at a Danish university, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. This also applies to PhD students from Nordic countries. After the enrollment deadline, available seats will be allocated to applicants on the waiting list.

Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:

1. Knowledge: understand and discuss i) the impact of genome variation on health and disease, ii) the potential applications of modern techniques to study genomic variation, iii) the strengths and limitations of translation of genome variation, iv) the applications of RNA sequencing, v) the principles and application of transcriptomic profiling of tissues and single cells, vi) the characteristics and principles of proteomics, vii) the use of mass spectrometry for proteomic analyses and protein databases, viii) the characteristics and principles of metabolomics, ix) the basic aspects of bioinformatics including machine learning, integration of omic data and visualization.

2. Skills: i) Critically evaluate results from studies of genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and bioinformatics in humans, ii) Design an appropriate study evaluating OMICS in human diseases.

3. Competences: Understand and explain the central aspects of omics studies.

Content
The main themes covered in the course are genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomic and bioinformatics.
