Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:

1. Write a well-structured manuscript and a convincing cover letter

2. Identify and eradicate the most common errors of grammar and usage

3. Master the use of punctuation (especially the comma)

4. Follow the rules for writing numbers

5. Understand medical writing conventions and the editorial process

Content
Successful researchers publish a lot. And to publish a lot, it’s important to write well. Writing well will increase your chances of publishing in high-impact journals as the quality of your writing is judged to reflect the quality of your research.

Although writing well is hard, especially for non-native English speakers, the good news is that it’s a skill that can be learned.

During the course, practical advice will be given on how to write clearly, correctly, concisely, and—not least—memorably for an international audience. Topics covered will include grammar and usage; spelling and punctuation; style and vocabulary; improving poorly constructed sentences; linking words and logical flow; and removing the dead wood.

The different parts of a manuscript and the underlying rules will be discussed. We will also discuss the editorial process and how to write a convincing cover letter.

Pick up valuable tips for submissions. Catch grammatical and stylistic errors. Improve readability. Learn how to write a memorable manuscript.

Our aim is to help you present your work in the best possible way to increase its chances of acceptance.

Set yourself up for success and join the course!
