Aim and content This is a generic course. This means that the course is reserved for PhD students at the Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH. Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at the Graduate School, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. After the enrolment deadline, available seats will be allocated to the waiting list. The course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School), and for PhD students at NorDoc member universities. All other participants must pay the course fee Learning objectives A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to: 1. Write a manuscript more clearly, correctly, and concisely. 2. Identify common errors of grammar and usage. 3. Write a convincing cover letter. 4. Respond to, and take action on, peer review of own work. 5. Use Twitter and LinkedIn to network with peers, and to promote own research to stakeholders and the wider public. 6. Report quality research without unintentional spin. 7. Understand how open access preprints can be used strategically to increase dissemination reach and create synergy with social media research promotion. Content This course is an introduction to clinical research dissemination focusing on three important areas that have undergone innovation in recent years: (1) academic writing and reporting quality, (2) open access publishing and preprints, (3) social media as an important research dissemination outlet. The lecturers on this course each run their own more in-depth PhD courses for each of these areas (medical writing, social media, and clinical research methodology). So, this combined course is an introduction to these three areas with a focus on the research promotion synergy that can be achieved. The topics include writing well (as a non-native English speaker), writing a problem statement, writing a cover letter, responding to peer review, strategically using open access preprints, effectively reporting research without spin, and using social media for peer networking, ideation, and research promotion.
