Aim and content
This is a generic course. This means that the course is reserved for PhD students at the Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH.

Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at the Graduate School, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. After the enrollment deadline, available seats will be allocated to the waiting list.

The course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School), and for PhD students at NorDoc member universities. All other participants must pay the course fee


This Illustrator workshop does not grant ECTS credits

Content
You have learned the basic Adobe Illustrator, either you have worked in the program a few years or been to one of our basic trainings.

Now you want to get even better with relevant examples on how to make advanced illustrations, like cells, membranes, DNA strings, and much more.
This is the workshop you have been waiting for, we use many of the tools you already know but will take it to the next level.

• You will learn how to master the Pen tool, to make elaborate and advanced illustrations.
• We will look at how to use 3D features in Illustrator to make relevant and stunning visuals.
• The gradient mesh tool, is a really great tool, to make those good looking surfaces and cells, you will learn how to use it in your daily work.
• We take full advantage of the appearance panel and how to save your work as reusable symbols, and styles.
• We will dive deeper into how we can create advanced looking planes, membranes and DNA strings, with a great 3D look.
• Opacity masks and Clipping masks alongside compound path is important functions to learn, so we will get confident with those.

All in all, you should be able to take your design to a new level after this day of advanced Illustrator.

Teacher
The workshop is instructed by Jimmy Machon. Jimmy is Adobe certificated expert and instructor and one of the few Apple certified trainers in Denmark. Jimmy also has experience in teaching in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effect, Animate CC and Final Cut Pro.


Course requirements
In order to take this workshop you need to have the skills equal to our basic training workshop. Further, participants are expected to bring their own laptop with Illustrator Cs6 or Illustrator. The programme can be obtained through various subscriptions, but there may be different opportunities or restrictions depending on your place of employment. Please consult your supervisor in this regard as the Graduate school cannot help obtain the programme.

Reading material and links to videos will be distributed to the participants from the instructor upon admission to the course.

Please register before 11 April 2023

Seats to PhD students from other Danish universities will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and according to the applicable rules.
Applications from other participants will be considered after the last day of enrollment.

Note: All applicants are asked to submit invoice details in case of no-show, late cancellation or obligation to pay the course fee (typically non-PhD students). If you are a PhD student, your participation in the course must be in agreement with your principal supervisor.
