Aim and content
This course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School), and for PhD Students from NorDoc member universities. All other participants must pay the course fee.
Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at a Danish university, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. This also applies to PhD students from NorDoc member universities. After the enrollment deadline, available seats will be allocated to applicants on the waiting list.
Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:
1. Describe type and information in major nationwide administrative health data bases, and how to get access
2. Be familiar with common types of studies based on the data bases (e.g. historical cohort, matching, nested case-control)
3. Have competencies to critically appraise register-based studies (not limited to studies based on Danish health registries)
4. Put into perspective where/if your own research can benefit from use of Danish Health databases supporting a translational perspective
Content
The course is a mixture of plenary lectures, discussions and group work. The participants will be introduced to the Danish Health registries, register-based studies and importent acpects and terms relevant to register-based research. Furthermore, the participants will given exaples and presentated to relevant cases related to register-based research and will also be given the oppertunity to work in groups to design their own register-based studies. This will give the participants insight into how their own research can benefit from the Danish Health regestries.
Participants
The course is intendent for PhD students that would like to get an introduction to Danish health registries and that would like to have an overview of the numerous possibilities the registries provides. The course is primarily inteended for PhD students affiliated with the Cardiovascular Graduate program, but PhD students associated with other graduate programs are also welcome.

Seats to PhD students from other Danish universities will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and according to the applicable rules.
Applications from other participants will be considered after the last day of enrolment.
Note: All applicants are asked to submit invoice details in case of no-show, late cancellation or obligation to pay the course fee (typically non-PhD students). If you are a PhD student, your participation in the course must be in agreement with your principal supervisor.
