Aim and content
This course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School), and for PhD Students from NorDoc member universities. All other participants must pay the course fee.

Anyone can apply for the course.



Learning objectives:
• Definition of translational research and why it is important
• Knowledge on biomarker identification and drug development utilizing OMICs- and drug-screening-based methodologies
• Learn about different types of preclinical disease models
• Learn how to bring a drug via a preclinical program to a phase 1 trial
• Knowledge and basic design of clinical phase 1-3 trials


Content
A one-week course in translational biomedical research. The course will focus on the process of identifying a clinical problem, taking a drug from lab to clinic and understanding the processes behind development of new treatments. The translational course will include lectures by basic, clinical, and industrial researchers presenting key translational research projects and examples on how basic research discoveries have successfully moved from bench to bedside in the forms of clinical trials and commercial development. The course will also include interactive development of research plans for translational projects by 5 working groups that will be presented and discussed with all participants during the course.
