Aim and content
This course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School), and for PhD Students from NorDoc member universities. All other participants must pay the course fee.
Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at a Danish university, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. This also applies to PhD students from NorDoc member universities. After the enrollment deadline, available seats will be allocated to applicants on the waiting list.
Learning objectives
To enable the student to get insights of innovation methods and – theory with cases from the real world. The student will get insights in to the InnoPLUS model developed by Rigshospitalet to accelerate health innovations from needs, prototyping, validation to implementation in clinical practice.
The course will be a mixture of theory and hands on experiences illustrated with current cases from the Rigshospitalet Innovation Centre and BETA.HEALTH – the national platform for health innovation.
At the end of the course, the student will have had an introduction to health innovation and an understanding on how innovation and healthcare plays along.
Content
We will touch upon different innovation theories and methods and apply it to real world cases. The topics are among others co-creation, business strategies, market analysis and stakeholder-, validation- and implementation strategies.
The course will include hands-on casework using theories and innovation models with a focus on business models, project design and management, impact models, design thinking and implementation science.
Furthermore, the course will touch upon entrepreneurship and spin-out business models for health innovation. Roughly half of the course will be spent with cases from Rigshospitalet.
Course plan
6 November
The Danish health care system is challenged like the rest of the world. Innovation is needed. Deep insights into the different innovation models are presented incl the InnoPLUS model with pro and cons. Methods for co-creation and need specification is tried as hands-on sessions based on insights from the Innovation Centre at Rigshospitalet.

Introduction to project management, implementation science, and how to apply business model theory in healthcare innovation using stakeholder segmentation and design thinking lenses.

Innovation and industry
Elevating research and development using Public-Private-Innovation models. Introduction to PPI project design, market dialogue, negotiations, business casvas models, procurements, and project management. Discussions on opportunities and pitfalls.
