Aim and content
This is a generic course. This means that the course is reserved for PhD students at the Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH.

Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at the Graduate School, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. After the enrolment deadline, available seats will be allocated to the waiting list.

The course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School), and for PhD students at NorDoc member faculties. All other participants must pay the course fee.

Learning objectives
Students who have met the objectives of the course will be able to:

1. Communicate research effectively
2. Use the correct style, genre, and format in academic writing
3. Avoid many common mistakes made in research writing
4. Use ChatGPT as a writing tool
5. Understand basic English grammar and punctuation, with a special emphasis on the comma

By exploring the characteristics of scientific writing and understanding the rationale behind them, participants will learn how to communicate clearly, accurately, and concisely. Grammar and punctuation will be covered in detail, and we will discuss how to avoid the most frequent mistakes. Participants will receive advice and practical tips on how to revise their writing along with individual and group feedback and correction of their own work.

Students will be required to submit a text to the teacher two weeks in advance (check your KU-mail!), and there will be extensive homework during the course.
