Aim and content
This is a generic course. This means that the course is reserved for PhD students at the Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH.
Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at the Graduate School, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. After the enrolment deadline, available seats will be allocated to the waiting list.
The course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School), and for PhD students at NorDoc member faculties. All other participants must pay the course fee
Content
1. Introduction to Inkscape: A Canvas of Possibilities
- Discover how Inkscape serves as your canvas for crafting intricate medical illustrations.
2. Navigating Your Illustration Workspace
- Dive into Inkscape's versatile workspace.
3. Artistry with the Pen Tool
- Master the art of precision with Inkscape's Pen Tool, learn how to craft cellular membranes, organelles, and anatomical features with expert finesse.
4. Constructing Intricate Forms: Geometric Synergy
- Uncover techniques to compose anatomical forms, from cells to tissues, with geometric elegance.
5. Elevate your illustrations
- Using Inkscape's Appearance panel, infusing your work with scientific accuracy and visual allure.
6. Masking Marvels:
- Unlock the magic of masks in Inkscape, refining your illustrations with focal points and seamless textures.
7. Typography
- Learn how to add typography within your medical illustrations to impart informative annotations and contextual clarity.
By the end of this workshop, you'll have gained a solid foundation in using Inkscape for scientific illustration. This training empowers beginners to navigate Inkscape's features, create stunning visuals. Whether you're illustrating cellular structures or crafting visual aids for scientific presentations, Inkscape is your versatile and free tool for the journey ahead.

Teacher
The workshop is instructed by Jimmy Machon. Jimmy is Adobe certificated expert and instructor and one of the few Apple certified trainers in Denmark. Jimmy also has experience in teaching in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effect, Animate CC and Final Cut Pro.

Seats to PhD students from other Danish universities will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and according to the applicable rules.
Applications from other participants will be considered after the last day of enrolment.
