A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:
1. Comprehend the fundamental and advanced principles of the translational field of immunometabolism.
2. Critically evaluate and engage with the recent and most influential literature in the field
3. Analyze and discuss mechanisms for modulating metabolism to regulate immune responses
4. Examine and apply advanced experimental methods for investigating various aspects of immunometabolism
Content
Immunometabolism is an emerging field of translational research that explores the dynamic interplay between immunological and metabolic processes. These metabolic processes play a crucial role in regulating immune cell responses in both healthy individuals and in conditions such as infections, cancer, autoimmunity, and aging. Breakthroughs in immunometabolism are paving the way for innovative therapies targeting chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, as well as introducing a new class of cancer immunotherapies.
This course offers students an introduction to cutting-edge research in immunometabolism. Through a combination of lectures and group work, students will actively engage with various aspects of the field, gaining a deeper understanding of its current and potential applications in clinical practice.
Participants
The PhD course is intended for students from all academic fields, who are working or are planning to work with immunometabolism in the a laboratory and/or a clinical setting.
However, the course is open for all students interested in the topic.
