Enrolment guidelines This course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School), and for PhD Students from NorDoc member faculties. All other participants must pay the course fee. Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at a Danish university, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. This also applies to PhD students from NorDoc member faculties. After the enrollment deadline, available seats will be allocated to applicants on the waiting list. Long title: A General Introduction to Theories and Methods in Research on Migrant and Ethnic Minority Health Learning objectives A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to: 1. acquire competence and knowledge regarding the ability to identify relevant theories guiding reserach within migration and health 2. understand opportunities and challenges of qualitative and quantitative research methods within the field 3. understand participatory reserach methods within the field 4. understand policy analysis within the field 5. undertand challenges regarding ethcis and communication within the field Content The aim of this PhD course is to provide participants with an interest in migration, ethnicity and health a general introduction to theories and methods within the research field. The concepts of migration and ethnicity and their interrelationship are defined; as well as the complex causal mechanisms behind the effect of migration and ethnicity on health and access to health care. Moreover, methodological challenges including categorisation of ethnicity and the pros and cons of different methodological approaches and study designs are addressed. Participants PhD students from Denmark or abroad interested in the field of migration and ethnic minority health.
